The trees frame the picture. I'm not sure where you were, but one thing that could help this photo is that a group of trees to the left could be added. You have good background and right side framing with the forest, and the right would've made it a little more complete looking.
I also sort of wish you'd have caught the sun a little over the trees, but I understand you probably didn't stand there for an hour to photograph that scene.
Other than those things, its a good photo. It's a very popular style, and you see it a lot, but if people like it, then you should do it.
